Crane Dance, or originally, Dance of the Cranes - an industrial, surreal-expressionist, fine art fantasy scene of cranes dancing on the waterfront

Crane Dance – or Dance of the Cranes

The inspiration for this work, Crane Dance, or, as it was originally, Dance of the Cranes, was when I was told of the activities of a shipping business in supporting and sponsoring the performing arts. I wondered if the two things could things could actually fit hand in glove. As I thought about it, I had a vision of the machinery typically involved, but fantasy style, in the performance. To represent the base concept was simply to reproduce the fantasy. The detail, however, was more complicated, and I set the work aside for some time, until I could finish it to my satisfaction.
